30th Juni 2006 (Start of Travian 3) - Capital: Each player can own one capital in which the resourcefields can be extended infinitely in theory. The capital can not be conquered.
- Oases: On the map are woods, clay pits, mountains and croplands which are inhabtited by wild beasts and can be plundered.
- Heroes: Normal troops can be appointed heroes. The heroes have 5 attributes and gain experience in combat.
- Improved graphics: The resourcefields have their own graphics now.
- Trapper: A new defensive building for Gauls. It can trap enemy troops.
- Bigger map: The map is 2.5 times as big as before and thus offers more place for settlings.
- New CP formula: The culture points needed increase steeper after the 3rd village.
- New battle-script: Huge armies do not have such a great superiority-advantage anymore.
- Defense against catapults: Catapults don't make so much damage against definitely smaller accounts anymore.
- Time zones: Time zone and date can be adjusted to one's own time and date.
- Reportfilter: You can choose which merchant reports to receive and which not.
- Stonemason: The Stonemason increases the durability of buildings in the capital to 200% max.
- UTF-8 character set: Travian supports almost every character set in the world now.
- Faster combatsimulator: Tribe and combattype can be changed with one click.
- Improved ingame help: The requirements for buildings and troops can be accessed faster.
- Sitter changes: Sitters can not send normal attacks anymore.
- New menu: The left menu has been reordered to improve the user-friendliness
16th September 2006 - Oases can be deserted
- Conquering changes: Villages conquered by an attacker bigger than the defender will loose 1 level per building and field in the conquered village. This does not apply to own villages.
05th October 2006 - The capital is marked in villageoverview and player profile (s3).
17th October 2006 - Stronger animals grant the hero more experience
- The resurrection costs for heroes have been cut at 240k. Starting with level 60 the costs won't increase anymore.
- A hero will die if he loses more than 90 hitpoints in a single battle. Due to this change you may redistribute 1/3 of your hero's skill points.
- The prerequisites for the stonemason have been lowered to main building level 5 and palace level 3.
- A note at the player details and the village overview displays which village his capital is.
- All new registering players receive a so-called "Quest" showing them what they should do in the beginning and granting them resources for achiving some things.
